This book was a real 'yikes'. I had never heard of this case, but man did it unfold.

We already know who the victim is and we already know who the killer is. The reason is unknown and how it took place is unknown.

The downfall of this book is the writing isn't all that great. I get what the author was trying to do, handle one piece of the story at a time that fitted to the narrative that he wanted to tell. To do this, he wouldn't tell you the story in a linear way, he would tell you a bit, then walk you back through the months that lead up to that 'piece' and then on and on. I thought that was confusing and at times I couldn't keep up with the timeline. I thought everything was being told linear but it was halfway through the book I realized he was jumping around. (Because at one point, the story was linear. It wasn't until you were being explained the lead up of the poisoning that the story began it's strange way of taking apart everything.)

The girl got 23 years but personally, I thought she deserved more. The fact that the jury was hung in the first trial, and that the second trial didn't convict her fully is ridiculous. But, as of two days ago, they are hearing out an appeal for her. I mean, the notes written in the phone and which were copied to the computer are enough.

Just a mess of a case.
