This is what I'd call a "pacey read" or a page-turner. The writing style is simple and direct-- not literary in any way-- but considering the author's background in journalism and podcasts it makes sense that the writing feels like a conversation instead of literary nonfiction. The cover is... fine. Ever since Where the Crawdads Sing was released I'm noticing a trend of sunset-colored nature pictures on book covers. They are attractive, but I don't think they communicate the book's content well. However, the bold font does look like it belongs on a thriller or true-crime book. Keep the font, change the picture.
