I was very excited to find a YA book with so many elements that I enjoy. Having a book written by a person of color, beautiful found family, high stakes fantasy, and complex relationships, We Hunt the Flame met my expectations and exceeded them. I was so envelope in the story. The world building was amazing, the characters felt fully developed and complex, and the structure of the plot all made me feel apart of the story. It was easy to get through and the pacing didn't feel too slow or too rushed. I wish I had seen more in relation to the power dynamics between both Nasir and his father and to the sultan and the rest of the citizens. But overall, it was ana amazing book and it completely lived up to the hype that it has received. The setup to the sequel is perfect and I can see the smooth transition between the two. I can not wait to see more from this author and see how she develops her writing more.
