We Hunt the Flame is a slow burn enemies-to-lovers, fantasy, race to the finish, YA book.
There were so many great aspects to this book. I loved all of the characters and seeing their changes. Zafira reminded me a lot of Katniss in how she is the hunter that provides for her family and other people. Nasir is definitely the character that is most intriguing to me. How he can be an assassin but also at the same time a little marshmallow? Some of the characters did seem to be set pieces to be discarded in order for the story to progress, which isn't a bad thing, but I just felt for them and wish they had more. I loved the different magical creatures they run into and the overall magic system seemed really cool. I definitely need to read the second book! For me, this was a 4/5.
If you like magic worlds, fierce women pretending to be men to get ahead in a man's world, and an assassin who is soft for a girl then this is the book for you.
