Gorgeous world building that wasn't too complex; I got caught up in the simple politics quickly and loved the separate points of view. Surreal at times and gorgeously human at other times, it just flew by! I love how fierce both main characters are, though they are definitely flawed, and I can't wait to read more of them. The ending was not quite a cliffhanger - more one complete story ending and leading quickly into another! I am excited to read more from this author; the balance of tension and light moments and darker (scarier) parts were so good. The sass level of the "side" characters seemed to be comic relief at first, but the banter quickly evolved into actual character development and and more of a "found family" feeling. I have seen mixed reviews about this book, but I am so glad I grabbed it because the good definitely outweighs the mediocre!
