This was really awesome!!! I thought the world building and the magic system was done incredible. It was done so well, that it felt believable. I love when an author could do that. The main character, Zafira, is a feisty thing and strong female character. We also have the anti-hero, brooding male character, Nasir, who is an assassin. This is definitely a enemies to lovers young adult book between Zafira and Nasir, but their relationship is still not fully developed, which hopefully you will get more in the second installment of the series. The fights and battle scenes with some scary creatures were really entertaining. It kept me on my toes and turning the pages to see what will be happening next. I also liked the side characters and the friendship they developed with Zafira. This book had a cool twist at the end of it and definitely makes me want to read the second book.
