What a perfect book to have been reading on MLK day! He even makes an appearance at one point. Told from the point of view of three women in interracial relationships that are all connected despite being in three different eras-1800’s, 1960’s, and present day-this was a captivating story that makes you look at racial issues from different sides at different times throughout history and today. The author did a great job of intertwining the three stories without confusion or feeling cluttered. The premise of a current day woman looking back into her past through an elderly relative may seem overdone and common lately, but as many of those as I’ve read, this one definitely stands out and feels fresh! Loved it!
