Hope for the Future by Examining the Past

Elizabeth Balsam writes for a small newspaper in Detroit and is working on what she thinks will be a big story about a judge who was a National Guardsman during the riots in the 60’s. Now she has met with two men who say that they have photos of the riots that belong to her aunt. It is up to her to find her aunt and return these photos to her. It is interesting to look at Detroit from the perspective of history and compare it to how the city is now, with violence and murders every day. This book offers hope for the future for all of us because it examines that the past and the lessons that need to be learned from it.
