As it says on the cover this book highlights the contributions and accomplishments of thirty women of color. Each of the women faced obstacles in striving towards their dreams and each overcame those obstacles in different ways I enjoyed learning about these strong women and believe they will inspire anyone who reads this book.
While some of the women were extremely well known, the book did a good job of incorporating those who aren’t household names. Although women in sports and entertainment were included, far more time was spent on the fields of science, activism, and journalism just to name a few.
My favorite quote fro the book comes from Dolores Huerta. “It’s a common story; some women create movements out of love, that are then co-opted by someone more favored by society. History is rewritten, and we lose our heroes.” Everyone can find a hero in this book
