Thank you to Nicole Ellis and Penguin Random House/DK for a copy of We Go High.

I think this book is beautiful from its cover to its title to its portrayal of WOC. I also like how the author split the titles and included women from culture, politics, STEM and business, activism and social justice, film and television, sports, journalism, food and drink. I plan on sharing this book with friends who are teachers who have classroom libraries. I think school kids will love this book.

I was especially drawn to the Food and Drink section. Dominique Crenn's quote of how people are also discriminated against for the way they cook really made me think. I watch many cooking competition shows and never realized how true that is.

Nadiya Hussain is a baker and WOC. I was not aware of her but found her story of suffering from panic disorder heartbreaking. Simone Biles' is one of the strongest women I've ever read about. I think she is so admirable and a wonderful role model of overcoming tragedy. Amanda Gorman! Her poetry - her youth - she is spectacular.

Amanda Gorman first came to my attention when she read her poem at President Biden's swearing in. I truthfully was so impressed, I found myself at a loss for words. She is young, strong and has made such an impression on so many people of all ages, all races. I think she is the face of greatness for WOC.
