This family is so flawed and dysfunctional and.I loved every second I spent with them. The story was told in alternating perspectives of the family and they flowed so perfectly between each other. Sunday left home for LA years before to make it as a writer but the reality is not quite so glamorous. She has published a couple of short stories, but she is mostly working as a waitress to afford her studio apartment. Until the night she gets drunk and crashes her car and they call her emergency contact her older brother Denny. When Sunday comes home there are a lot of unanswered questions (particularly because no one in this book every seems to talk to anyone else). There are loads of secrets in this family consisting of Mickey the father, Shane, Jackie, Denny, and Sunday the siblings, and Kale the friend the family adopted as a child and Sunday’s ex-boyfriend. There is tons of drama and discovery in these pages. I usually have a hard time watching the characters choose wrong every time, but in this story it just felt right.
