I listened to this book on audio and let me tell you, at one point, I almost gave it up. I fed too much into the hype I saw on other review platforms and was very disappointed within the first hour or so of listening. Thankfully, my stubbornness served me well and I kept on reading to find this book was quite enjoyable!
The narrator, storyline, and characters grew on me with each minute that passed. At first, the story developed too slowly, and I was having trouble keeping all of the names of the characters straight. This is about a big family with years of drama and secrets, so ultimately, I needed to listen a little more carefully in order to buy in.
I noticed a definite pick up in the plot about halfway through, when the story started to make more sense and each personality involved was better developed. By the end of the book I was truly invested and thankful to have loaned it from my library. I would consider reading something by this author again!
