I didn’t know anything about this book when I started reading and probably because of that I was on the edge of my seat by the second page. I also experienced a bit of whiplash trying to decide if the main character was like able, or even redeemable, switching between a fairly mundane description of a main character, a colossally terrible decision, memories of a very likeabke child, a girl who left her family (reasons unknown), and a remorseful adult. What also makes this interesting is everyone’s belief that a mistake like that was completely out of character for Sunday, despite that being the readers first impression of her. The reader also learns that sunday had been lying to her family for some time, adding to the mystery of who she is. The first twenty pages definitely introduces more questions than answers, but it makes you want to keep reading to figure them out.
