Maybe it’s because I’m an only child, but I really loved this book about a large Irish family and their particular dynamics. I really loved the Brennan clan! At its core this book is a story of unconditional love and support, with some drama and estrangement caused by keeping secrets. I especially appreciated how the chapters of the book flowed. Each chapter alternated through the perspective of most of the family members, so you felt like you got a full picture of the plot, and the chapters were all connected via one sentence of dialogue. The previous chapter would end with one character (not the character perspective of that chapter) saying something, and the next chapter would seamlessly begin with that same bit of dialog, but from the point of view of the character who spoke it! I thoroughly enjoyed this technique and love what it added to the experience. I don’t want to say too much about the story, it’s better to not know, but I highly recommend this as a quick read with flawed, wonderful, memorable characters. I really enjoyed the ending of the book- it was what I had hoped for the entire time. A good end to a great story!
