We Are The Brennans is a fictional family drama about an estranged Irish American family that struggles with relationships, secrets, money and success in modern day New York.
Sunday Brennan is living on her own away from her family in California when a car accident forces her back to New York in the middle of her close knit family and the man she loved but left behind anyway. Her brother Denny is trying to make a success of his new bar and restaurant but it’s besieged by bad luck and skyrocketing start up costs. Kale is haunted by his relationship with Sunday that ended abruptly when she left for California. Now he’s married and the father of a young son and can’t afford to fall in love with Sunday again. Jackie is the middle brother who has been keeping Sunday’s secrets and trying to be an artist in a family where his art (and Sunday’s writing) isn’t admired. Micky is the patriarch who is starting to lose his memory and has secrets that may also lose his children’s respect.
We Are The Brennans is an entertaining family drama with love, loss, secrets and the bonds between siblings. I highly recommend it to readers that enjoy reading about families and their struggles.
