The Brennans are a family who love each other but have their secrets and differences. It took a car accident to bring 29 year old Sunday back to the fold of her family of three brothers, father, and former boyfriend after an unexplained five year absence. Upon returning from California to New York, she learns the family pub business is near financial ruin due to some poor decisions by one of her brothers and a person from her past who is out to destroy the family. Secrets she and others would like to remain hidden must be shared before the family can band together to avert a tragic situation and bring healing to all.
I liked the way the author moved the plot along with realistic dialogue between the characters and alternating chapters spoken in the voice of different characters. I felt I got to know each of the characters by hearing them express their thoughts and feelings as they were given a chapter to speak in first person. That technique worked well in this book. This is a book that moves along at a fast pace and keeps the reader’s interest throughout. I think people who like stories about family dynamics would enjoy reading about the Brennans.
