We Are the Brennans is an incredible story told from multiple POVs. First we meet Sunday Brennan, the only daughter of the Brennan clan, who decides to drive home drunk after a night at the bar. After getting into a car accident, her older brother, Denny, is called and flies out to LA from New York to see to her. After convincing her to come back home after a 5 year hiatus, we meet the rest of the family - Jackie, Shane, and Mickey, their father.
Sunday is hiding a huge secret, as is the rest of her family, and as the story develops, we see more and more into each of these person’s lives. Soon, all secrets will be out on the table, and lives will change drastically. The ending was a real cliffhanger, and I’d love to see a part two of the Brennans!
Tracey Lange does an incredible job of bringing these characters to life with attention to detail and stunning pasts that feel beyond real. The relationship between Sunday and Kale was also well done. I felt their pain and heartache for one another on a very personal level. Of course, my story isn’t nearly the same, but I felt the love they had and still feel for one another leaping off the pages. Lange is an amazing storyteller, and We Are the Brennans deserves all the praise!
