Being a second generation Irish American I could really relate to this family. Even the dynamics of drinking, one seemingly reliable family member, and the showing up for family no matter how long it has been. The author really was able to grasp on to the Irish Catholic ideal family and the matriarchal glue. When that glue is lost the family can seemingly fall away but, time will bring them back over and over again. I can’t wait to get this book, have it in my hands, and read it over and over again. The cover of this book is also absolutely perfect! The simplicity and complexity are blended beautifully just like every Irish American family. I can see this is going to be a 5 star read that I can only hope becomes a 5 star series focusing on each member.
