Wow is the first word that comes to mind when I read the first look. I didn't even have to finish the first poem to know this was a book I want to read. I was so sad when I couldn't use my points to redeem this book (That's what happens when you get caught up in your teaching). The very first poem was powerful and moving. This is such a hard hitting topic that makes you sick to your stomach, but it still sadly happens. I usually find myself not drawn to books written in verse, but there's something about this book and the writing that pulls me in and makes me want to read and devour this story. I like that the book isn't entirely in verse and goes back and forth. The book pulls you in right from the beginning before chapter 1 even begins. This is heartbreaking and I want to know more and to read more.
