Some things are taboo to speak on and I believe stories like this open a door to awareness and rawness of the situation that makes people really listen. We need more of this!
As triggering as books like this one can be, I find myself very much drawn to them. They bring on the courage that you might not have had before to help, to learn, to listen, or even to heal.
I also very much appreciate the family in this, because when you’ve been hurt, harmed, or just put in an uncomfortable and terrorizing situation, family should be the ones you turn to for love and support.
In this the sister is the biggest advocate for what has been done! And if my sister didn’t react the way this sister did then I don’t want it. This type of books evokes feeling and I’m all about the feels.
