The premise of the book had me interested from the get-go, but the First Look really got me hooked. It's impossible not to empathize with the hope, despair, rage, and other mix of emotions Em feels as her family faces the gross injustice of her sister's convicted rapist going unpunished. I'm intrigued by the connection to a historical character and can't wait to see how that piece of the story plays out.
I found the cover image a bit hard to read. It looks more like wood shavings than anything else, which obviously bears no connection to the story and doesn't evoke much feeling for a story so full of emotion.
