After declaring bankruptcy, 18 year old Aaron's parents save the family bookstore by gifting it to him. Unfortunately, that's not the only tragedy or "asteroid" as Aaron calls it, that's struck his family in recent years. His mom, Annie, and older brother, Sandy, are gone so now it's up to him and his father, Ira, to save the bookstore. But, does Aaron even want to save it, or does he have another dream he'd rather pursue? Helplessly overwhelmed and craving a new beginning, Aaron sells the bookstore behind his father's back so, of course, that's just when unexpected forces collide and people arrive to help save the store. Where are Aaron's mom and older brother? And, will Aaron change his mind?

Oh, and course, there's also a love interest, Hannah, for Aaron!

"Every time I see her, I feel that thing: the inevitable."

I enjoyed much of this story and even though some reviews stated they didn't like Aaron, I disagree and excused his attitude because after all he'd been through, he had the right to feel disappointed and jaded by life. There were a lot of dinosaur references, so dino fans might want to check it out just for that. Overall, I thought it had good bones (dino reference; see what I did there?), but I wish the characters and story had been more fleshed out and detailed.

Lastly, I would highly recommend the If I Stay series (4 stars) by this author!
