WE ARE INEVITABLE was so much more than I was expecting. I shouldn’t be surprised. Gayle Forman always knows how to pack a story. You don’t notice how completely it swallows you until your sobbing through the end. WE ARE INEVITABLE is no different.
Aaron is ready to leave the town that has done nothing but hurt him with the inevitables of his life. The bookstore is a dinosaur about to go extinct and he wants it to be over. Ira doesn’t realize how little Aaron cares what happens, but Aaron truly just wants Ira to be happy. So Aaron stays, cares for Ira, and once again ends up staying. When Chad comes bragging into Aaron’s life and introduces him to Hannah, everything changed. Maybe staying is okay, maybe just maybe the inevitable will be okay too.
I recommend this book if you like reading life stories of recovery. It’s sad, heavy and hard, but beautiful.
