I was excited about this book when I saw the cover, and after reading a little bit, I'm even more pumped! Anything with a bookshop in it is right up my alley, and I love this age range in books -- figuring out if you should continue on the path that's always been in front of you, or if you should change course and try something new.
I was immediately captured by Aaron's voice, and that doesn't always happen to me -- it usually takes me a while to get used to characters. I also really like the relationship between Aaron and his dad that we get glimpses of, and I'm eager to see that explored more. It seems like there's something under the surface that's causing tension with their relationship, and I hope we get to dig into that, because I could see a lot of emotions coming to the surface as that's explored.
All in all, this is a really strong beginning for a book that seems like it's going to break my heart (in a good way).
