The first part of the synopsis had me, but then it just dropped me. It seems to have been set up for the whole “person loses people, falls into despair, oh here’s a love interest and other things that completely solve MC’s problems” trope. The first look showed promise that it could be well written and handle the tropes I would expect to see if I read the book in a way that piqued my interest. Perhaps as it progresses it will go in a way where the problems don’t unrealistically go away. I can’t say. However, I cannot say that promise will be fulfilled. I also cannot say this is a book I would purchase for myself, but if I was at my local library I would pick it up and give it a shot.
