As the story opens, the reader is introduced to Aaron and his father, Ira, who operate a small used bookstore somewhere near the Cascade Mountains of Washington state. As the story develops, reference is made several times to “after the asteroid hit,” which at first leads the reader to an almost literal interpretation, however later on, it appears that the reference is more digital, and pertains to something huge that has happened in Ira”s and Aaron’s life. The reader is left wondering where this story is going, and the quest to get there will be an interesting journey!
