I haven’t read anything by Gayle Foreman since her breakout novel, If I Stay, which I actually read as a teen myself. It’s interesting to come back to her writing for teens now, when I’m an adult. I would say that this story seems to straddle the space between YA and New Adult — it reads very much like a coming of age story, which is Foreman’s strength. I’m not sure that I’m quite invested in the characters enough to read on, but I do enjoy this author’s writing style.
