Fell a little short

I've loved other Lisa Jewell books, but this one fell short for me. It started slow, with a lot of characters introduced. None of the characters were particularly likable, especially Joey, who is the "main character" of the novel. Her infatuation with Tom, her neighbor, seemed odd and the whole story just seemed a little... off.

I figured out the mystery about a third of the way through, which usually is disappointing for me. I didn't see the "twist" at the end, but I also felt it was kind of unnecessary. Everything was wrapped up at that point, and it just made me dislike certain characters more.

Overall there is suspense, but the whole story was just not for me. I do know that other fans of Jewell loved this, so personal preference. 2.5 stars rounded up.
