This is a promising, fantastic, psychological thriller, set in Bristol in England. What’s great about it is that right from the start you are introduced to the central character Josephine (Joey) Mullen who lives with her new husband, Alfie, in her brother and sister-in-law's lovely home in a charming area. Joey is rather flighty and impulsive. Several other characters in this book are also beginning to be well developed with perfectly timed introductions, giving you a feel for their differing perspectives. You instinctively feel on everyone's side as those perspectives bring a new feeling of allure and suspense as to where this is going next, along with a suggestion of secrecy. This is particularly true in Joey's initial dealings with the fascinating, handsome and charismatic, headteacher Mr Tom Fitzwilliam, which is one of the highlights of the first pages of the book and I am looking forward to finding out how that relationship develops.

Lisa Jewell's writing style is fantastic - not too wordy and very easy to read and I will definitely be reading more from her. I loved it!
