This is the first book by Nina Lacour that I have read. I can already tell that it will sit with me. It was a quicker read, coming in at 261 pages. I don’t feel that the book blurb does this justice, and I don’t want to give away any spoilers....

Mila has aged out of the foster care system and feels fortunate to have been selected for an internship on a farm that takes in foster children. The farm isn’t exactly what she expected. Nobody Had told her there would be ghosts. Only she will be able to decide if the ghost are their to heal or harm her.

I found this to be a beautiful book, exploring the vulnerability of growing into adulthood and making peace with yourself and your past. There were themes of grief, trauma, loss, vulnerability, trust, wanting to be accepted, healing, and hope.

Thanks to BookishFirst and Dutton Books (Penguin Random House) for an advance finished copy in exchange for an honest review.
