This book was "meh" to me. It was good, not great and it didn't blow me away like most people describe Nina Lacour's books. I have only read one other Nina Lacour book (We are Okay) a few weeks ago. I was under the impression that Watch Over Me was a sequel to We are Okay, but it is NOT. And I'm thinking that's what has me so conflicted over this book. It did not meet my expectations because it was not a sequel.

However, the writing style is LYRICAL. It was beautifully written. The story felt magical. Nina Lacour has a way of making prose feel like poetry. If this is how the rest of her books are written, I need to pick them up! I did really like the story, but because my expectations weren't met, I just had to rate it as "meh". But, if you like/love Nina Lacour, I would definitely recommend picking Watch Over Me up!
