I really enjoyed this book. It’s pretty short and has the perfect balance of being a quick read because it’s short but doesn’t feel rushed or too short. I am always amazed at just how beautiful Nina LaCour’s writing is. I don’t think I can put into words how well she describes everything and makes you feel like you are there and can see and feel everything that is going on. This book is haunting and beautiful and I know it is going to stay stuck in my mind for a very long time. There is a ghost story but it isn’t scary. I also enjoyed seeing Mila’s backstory unfold as the book has flashbacks to her time growing up with her mother. We slowly get to piece together what happened to her and how she got to this point in the story. There is also a cute storyline with Mila and one of the younger students where she becomes a sister or almost mother figure to him. It is very sweet. I also love the cover. It is beautiful.
