I've long been a fan of Nina LaCour's writing, and always have to go into the book with my emotions braced. Watch Over Me is no different. Mila, a foster child who has aged out of the system and feels like outcast in her own life, comes to what she discovers is a farm for other people like her. Along the way, the owners of the farm and the foster children on it teach her about life, love, and processing grief and trauma - ghosts, if you will. Nina LaCour knows how to pack a punch with her writing, and this book felt like it had a direct string tied around my heart and tugged on it fervently. If you've ever felt alone, or like an outsider in your own life, Watch Over Me is sure to resound with you.
