Did anyone else watch "The Path" on Hulu, about Meyerism? That's the vibe I got when Mila said she was going to be a foster kid at a commune type farm for foster kids. I still have my hopes that this book will go down a cult path, but there's ghosts! And there's echoes from the pasts and all sorts of things going on and I'm here for all of it. I'm ready to sit down and read this book with cup after cup of tea and every pastry within reach.
So much foreshadowing! The main character is told "cellphones don't work out there and the nearest town is miles and miles away. It's just rock cliffs and ocean." She's just as good as been told "There's no way out!" Once she's there, she's told "We have everything you need. Every single thing you need. If we don't have it, we'll get it. You never need to go, but you could. You're free." Except it's a prison because you can't leave without help, permission, or harm. This sounds like the start of some beautiful brainwashing.
And who are these ghosts?? former foster kids? I've GOT to KNOW!!
This book has more layers than a Gâteau de Crêpes which would be perfect to eat while I read this book. I can't wait.
