Too many characters and time perspectives
I didn’t care for the pacing of this book. It was way too slow. Also, too many characters were thrown at the reader at once, including in present narratives AND flashbacks. I had to flip the pages back and forth endlessly to figure who was who again and again. I was lost.
It was too much to take in and I couldn’t get into this book. The first look really hooked me, but I was disappointed by the full book. I love sinking into a good mystery/thriller "with a twist". The only twist in this book was the pages I had to fold down to keep as references points.
I know I'm in the minority, so I fully accept it could be my fault for picking up a book mid-series. I wasn't aware that this was a series of books. I might be willing to give book 1 a try and start over.
The market is simply saturated with thrillers "with a twist", and I can't recommend this one when there are so many other books that held my attention more.
