I had some expectations going into this and I didn't know how much I would love it, but overall I was pleasantly surprised. The main character in this book is intelligent but the writing is so simple and effective that it makes it easy to follow her line of thought. I'm saying this because I'm someone who tends to get lost while reading mystery books, and I'll usually end up either having to take notes or something or having to backtrack and re-read previous chapters to get a gist of what's happening. With this book, however, I was pretty much on the same page as the protagonist throughout, and seeing the way the mystery unfolded was all the more fascinating. I remember reading A to Z mysteries as a kid and since then I haven't read a lot of mystery. However, I would say this book awoke my interest in the genre again. The pacing is masterful and the writing keeps you on your toes. 10/10 reccommend.
