The cover of this book is absolutely gorgeous and I will definitely be reading the sequel, even though this wasn't my favorite.
I very slowly worked my way through this book. It was very good and I loved many things about it. I couldn't believe how little I knew about the historical basis for this book, the Nigerian Civil War.
This book is very complicated and covers an immense period of time, which got me bogged down a few times. I typically don't like it when books have time jumps and this one had a lot.
I also felt like there were chunks of book where nothing important happened. I feel I would have liked it more if these were minimized. Other parts of this felt like they were skimming over important details.
But this had a really great message and was very meaningful. I also loved the characters!
