I loved Tochi's first duology because of it's inventiveness, unique characters, and fabulous world building. So going into WAR GIRLS I was prepared for another story with fabulous world building. And I was not disappointed. While there may be no fantastical monsters, there's technological advancements and grit. Not only that, but even in the excerpt there are themes of family and justice woven into the very fiber of the book - just like in Tochi's first series.
