I almost passed up the chance to dig into this one. War stories are not usually my thing ESPECIALLY when there is a lot of high tech weaponry involved. In this case, the soldiers themselves are all pretty high-tech. But the idea of a story about military conflict where the leading characters are women?! I HAD to read more. I'm glad I did!
In the few pages I was able to read, the author effortlessly tells the story while "educating" the reader about how "bionics" have impacted the troops in this futuristic war. There are no long, dry explanations; everything that the reader needs to know is skillfully crafted into the action of the story. This is a skill I find lacking in many of the novels that have war and politics at their center. It's probably the reason that most such books don't appeal to me. But this one DEFINITELY caught my interest!
