I expected to be caught up in action immediately and get swept away but instead the first few chapters do a wonderful job of both world-building and generating investment from the reader in the sisters as well as the entire encampment. When the action starts is where the excerpt ends. Very well done in that regard too.
I love the cover, both the young girl who, as we learn, has been deprived of childhood, and the technology that has become so common in their world. This looks almost like a superhero who is also a vulnerable human being.
