War Girls is a book that I was anticipating because of the hype already surrounding it. I did not know much about it, only that it was going to be a good one. What I was not expecting was to be hooked in only a few short pages. After reading the first pages, I have already received a sense of the type of person Ify is. She is an independant girl with an older sister who she appears to look up to. Her older sister, Onyii, is a bit of a mystery to me. I am interested in getting to know her character better and getting to know what her life was like before, including how she lost her arm and how she found Ify. From the first few pages, I have many questions about the world they live in, all of which I know will be answered in the rest of the book. A futuristic setting torn by war is enough to hook me instantly.

The cover is very unique to me, as I am often not drawn to covers picturing actual people, but this cover really got me excited to read the book. Everything about it—the wardrobe to the cityscape—gave off vibes of a thrilling, futuristic read which I cannot wait for. The cover was the perfect fit, in my opinion, to set the mood for the book.

War Girls already has me hooked, especially from the ending of that last chapter. The first few chapters are extremely promising of an addictive story. I am intrigued to get to learn more about the characters and this new world.
