The premise and the blurb I read really set my anticipations high for this book. I expected a warm, funny, and original read. What I got was something that felt flat and condescending. I loved the idea of two characters from two different genres meeting in some nook of their author's subconscious. Those parts of the book were quirky and charming. Everything about Wanda and her real life were not as successful. She is caught in hugely terrible relationship and uses pot as a way to escape. Her characters are more concerned about her complacency that she appears to be. She is not a likelable character, which would be fine on its own, but she is also not an especially interesting character. What I struggled with more was the resolution to Wanda's plight from her treatment of Austin to her career changes.

I receieved a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
