I was incredibly surprised to find that this seemingly light-hearted, humorous book dealt with some incredibly heavy themes like substance abuse and toxic relationships in addition to writer's block. It also has periods of light-hearted humor, such as talking about penises and other silly things that contrasted the darker themes. I did appreciate the respite the humor provided in the story.
I thought the premise was interesting. The book characters are all in Wanda's head, and I think the really exemplify the issues that she is dealing with in her life and with herself. Her characters are trying to influence her to make healthier decisions.
