This is my first book by Leif Enger. Although the story was enjoyable, I had difficulties connecting to it at the beginning. It’s a very slow paced book with great character development.
This story is about a small town where everyone knows each other. Most people being born there. Our main character Virgil Wander realizes he has changed the way he views things after surviving a bad accident where his car flies off a cliff after driving on an icy road. In one of his walks, he meets Rune, a middle aged man who loves kite flying. Rune has come to the town looking for his long lost son he had recently found out he had. He finds out that his son was a professional baseball player at one time but has disappeared ages ago and presumed dead. Virgil invites him to live with him and they strike a great friendship.
Thank you to Grove Press and Bookish First for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
