I apologize, because I really did try, but this was a book I couldn’t get through. I even picked it up no fewer than three times (in separate time frames) to try and spark my interest.
I think it was the combination of quiet setting and quiet characters? I usually love stories involving amnesia, but I didn’t really feel invested in any of the people, and since there wasn’t much happening, there was nothing to keep me turning the pages.
I’m not sure what else there is to write about a DNF. I appreciate the opportunity to receive galleys through BookishFirst, but unfortunately this one just didn’t work for me. The cover art was nice, at least. Perhaps my fellow early reviewers had better luck with Virgil Wander.
