In having lived in the Midwest in a small town for a majority of my life many beats felt familiar to me. I enjoyed the ensemble cast of characters even if I was not able to always keep them apart. I sometimes wished there was an index of some of the townspeople since they were often hard to keep straight when they were mentioned only once or twice and were then mentioned again chapters later in passing. The cast of characters made the story feel richer and made the town feel more like a real place. The ending felt a little unsatisfying considering the number of pieces to the mystery that was introduced just before the book ended. I didn't need definite answers, but it seemed like major hints were dropped and the plotline was just abandoned.
