Back some 50 years ago, plus or minus a few years, I was a parent. It wasn't an easy job. I can't say I completely understood what I was getting into. Back then, there was this program called Parent Effectiveness Training (PET). I think I remember the name. It wasn't easy, but as long as I kept to the guidelines, things went as smoothly as you could expect. Over the years since then, it seems that every ten years or so, the same sort of guidelines pop up under a new name. I guess it's time for a repeat.
