I have some really mixed feelings about Vagabonds! On the one hand, I really loved the concept and the different ideas that Hao Jingfang played with, but on the other hand I struggled a lot with connected to the plot and characters. I love reading sci-fi and fantasy in translation because there are often some unique viewpoints that are different from my own culture, and I definitely got that with this book so I was excited about that.

This was a very complex story with a lot of world-building and details to cover, and I think both the author and the translator did a good job with conveying it in a good manner that made sense and kept me interested. I also appreciated the careful thought that so obviously went into developing this story.

As I mentioned, I had a little difficulty getting into the story fully, but I still appreciate everything else that made Vagabonds what it is!
