The prose is stunning. Not in the flowery literary way; the prose here is very neat and precise. Not something I expected to see reading a translated sci-fi book. (sort of reminds me of Ray Bradbury?)

An exploration into space fantasy is such a fascinating concept, and this book does a great job balancing description and detail; you get just enough to visualize what you need without it becoming too much. I also enjoyed how quickly the cast of characters gets introduced, without it becoming a daunting game of "who's who?" (though, admittedly, there's not too many characters introduced at the start; still, I get lost with stuff like that a lot anyway, so the fact that I didn't in this book says a lot).

I'm really interested in seeing where this goes. I wanna know more about how the vastly different environments affect the children's upbringing, and I wanna understand more about the science and technology of this world.
