I’m interested to see where this goes, but that interest is riding almost entirely on the book summary rather than the First Look. The summary sounds fascinating; however, the First Look doesn’t go far enough into the story to touch on the primary plot conflict, and so I wouldn’t say I’ve been hooked just yet. I like the author’s writing style, but it seems like the book could still use some further editing. The cover is pretty bland for a book that has a lot of potential.
